“The captain fell asleep, now he is suspected of driving under the influence of drunkenness and carelessness,” said Coast Guard spokeswoman Martina Söderberg.
According to her, an investigation is underway, it is possible that the captain will be detained.
On board the 82-meter ship are seven people, the television channel informs. The Swedish maritime authorities did not record any damage and positively assess the health status of the crew.
Presumably, the ship is registered in Gibraltar and was sailing from the Russian city of Svetly (Kaliningrad Oblast) to Sweden Linkoping.
Earlier, the IC opened a case on the incident on the Ob River in Ugra, where the Meteor-282 passenger ship ran aground.
