The full text of the joint statement on trade negotiations between Japan and the United States.

1. We, Prime Minister Abe and President Trump, confirm and welcome the final agreement on the Japan-US Trade Agreement and the Japan-US Digital Trade Agreement. We hope that we will sign these agreements as soon as possible in the future and put them into effect soon after each national procedure is completed.

2 The Japan-US trade agreement is a tariff for certain agricultural and industrial products in order to expand bilateral trade between Japan and the US, which accounts for about 30% of global GDP, in a powerful, stable and mutually beneficial manner. Eliminate or reduce The US-Japan Digital Trade Agreement establishes high-level rules in this field, indicating that the two countries will continue to play a leading role in developing global rules on digital trade.

3 With the achievement of these early results, the two countries intend to close the consultation within four months after the Japan-US Trade Agreement comes into effect. The intention is to initiate negotiations on tariffs and other trade constraints, service trade and investment barriers, and other issues.

4. The two countries will implement the Japan-US trade agreement and the Japan-US digital trade agreement in good faith, based on a relationship of trust. While these agreements are being implemented in good faith, the two countries will not act against the spirit of both agreements and this Joint Statement. Japan and the United States will also endeavor to resolve other tariff-related issues as soon as possible.
