The plan was to sell the painting at the Uppsala auction chamber in December. But on Monday night, the owner decided to stop selling, until further notice.

- After the huge positive impact that has become, the owner family has been given access to certain information that must be followed up on previous ownership conditions, says Magnus Bexhed, CEO of Uppsala auction room.

Previous ownership, what does that mean? Could the board have been in "wrong hands"?

- The owner's family must be given space to follow up on certain information that has emerged and to remove any question marks before the sale. That the sales order is revoked is just to get the time to do so, says Magnus Bexhed.

Impressions are postponed

He emphasizes that the plan is still for the board to be auctioned off, but at a later date.

- Absolutely, we have good dialogue between ourselves.

The planned screenings of the board that would take place during the autumn in Uppsala, Stockholm and New York have been postponed indefinitely.

- The board has had a huge positive impact. It has received many positive comments and many people think that the board is fantastic.
