The Northvolt One battery factory consists of two parts. One is to be built with two production lines and from the beginning the idea was the same with the other half.

But now Northvolt is applying for a third production line in the second half, something Norran was the first to report. In total, the battery factory therefore wants to build five production lines.

- It comes from the fact that there is a huge demand. It will be required to produce a huge amount of batteries in the coming years, says Jesper Wigardt.

With five production lines, the factory can produce 200,000 tonnes of lithium-ion batteries per year. In addition, according to Jesper Wigardt, they are also seeking permission for a recycling operation.

- It is a very central part of our business that we should be able to recycle in the same area where we are now establishing.

Gives more jobs

Earlier it was said that the battery factory can provide 2500 to 3000 jobs. But as Northvolt plans to grow, more jobs will be created.

- It is difficult to say an exact figure, but more jobs will obviously be needed.

The plans to expand the building have been around for a long time. According to Jesper Wigardt, two years ago there was already a dramatic development.

- We have seen for a long time that there is a need with the demand from customers. I think we will need to build even more than this.

Decisions must be taken by the Land and Environmental Court. The timetable for this is still unclear.
