Minneberg's beach border is embedded in greenery. The area is popular and frequented by both preschools and residents. But lately, more and more boats have been illegally anchored up at Lake Mälaren.

- There have been several complaints, says Erik Ullberg Westin, who works in crime prevention at the Maritime Police in Stockholm.

"Extremely Criminally Active"

For several years, a boat wreck has been illegal at the beach. But since the pirate port was closed at Södermalm, more and more boats have come to the site.

- A bunch of people went from the pirate port to Axelsberg and they were extremely active in crime. We were there once a day and seized theft, after a while we went a bunch further to Minneberg, says Erik Ullberg Westin.

According to the Naval Police, drugs are also on board the boats. But also the boats themselves are a major environmental problem.

- Things are thrown away from the boats like car batteries, oil but also latrine that goes directly into the water, says Erik Ullberg Westin.

Ultimately, the settlements are the local police responsibility and soon the sea police, the exploitation office and the local police will have a meeting on how to work on the matter.

- You must not settle this way.

Boats that illegally add to quayside and beach edges and are used for housing have previously been a problem in the City of Stockholm. Almost two weeks ago, the so-called pirate port was closed at Tantolunden on Södermalm. There, the police made several strikes on the boats and found theft and drugs.
