Dressed in a long purple dress, revealing her electronic bracelet at the ankle, Meng Wanzhou took the time to exchange a few words at the entrance to the court with two women who came to support her.

Her lawyers say that Canadian customs officers were in cahoots with the FBI the day they stopped her as she boarded the plane as she was passing through the Vancouver airport.

The United States had indeed launched an international procedure against it. The Americans suspect it has traded financially with Iran using a front company.

According to the defense, Huawei's chief financial officer did not immediately know the facts he was being accused of while the customs officers were questioning him and searching his luggage on 1 December.

Meng Wanzhou's lawyers have submitted to the court a request to discredit the investigation by the Canadian police. This procedure should last all week.

On parole since December, the daughter of Huawei's founder lives in a luxurious villa in Vancouver that belongs to him. A court must decide in January 2020 on the extradition request to the United States.
