Let no one wait for a brunette to break and tear, because the winner is very blond and has blue eyes. His name is Nathalie Ortega , he is 19 years old and half Norwegian. The finalists (no, they are no longer called bridesmaids) are also a sign that the beauty canons are changing: Claudia Coba (22) and Athenea Pérez (22), the first of Chinese and Cuban descent , and the second, Murcia with Guinean blood .
"There has never been so much diversity in the contest, but it has not been a bet. What is clear is that they are a reflection of Spanish society," says Jorge Diez , director of the contest.
With a Catalan father and a Norwegian mother, Nathalie has a "very Nordic" beauty but says she feels "very identified with the Spanish culture." "I love Spain, the weather, the people ... everything. At home we have always spoken Spanish, even if I have this Norwegian accent ," he laughs at LOC. He acknowledges that until now "he didn't know anything" about the world of misses and that his thing has been a coincidence. After finishing high school he went to Barcelona and began working as a model . "I was at my grandmother's house living but I moved to an apartment of the agency that hired me. There one of the candidates for the contest stayed and they encouraged me to introduce myself. I did not even think that I could win," he says.
In addition to Norwegian and Spanish, Nathalie speaks English, is learning Italian and has set Catalan as her next challenge. He says that his house does not talk much about procés but acknowledges that he is very sorry for everything that is happening in Catalonia.
Although for some it is a contradiction that a beauty queen declares herself a feminist, she is - "feminism is nothing but equality," he emphasizes - as well as a vegetarian and environmental activist . Children are his other great passion. "I would like to study something related to education to work with children who have difficulties," he says.
For now, Nathalie is waiting for several months of training to be a perfect miss: public speaking, gym, English practice ... "I have a great team that prepares me because it is an international competition, they ask you all kinds of questions and you you can put in a garden! "
