The case is about a man who sought care at a health center in the county when he had problems with breathing and coughing. The doctor's assessment was, in 2016, that the man suffered from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

In early 2017, the man's health condition deteriorated and he had pain in the shoulder blades and lower back. He was prescribed physiotherapy and painkillers.

Seven doctors in three weeks

The pain worsened and for three weeks the man had to see seven different doctors at the health center and in addition to other medical personnel. Finally, the man came to the hospital urgently and computed tomography showed that he had spread lung cancer with metastases throughout his body. The man died a few months later.

Criticism of the region

Two years after the notification, the Inspectorate for Care and Care now comes with its decision. IVO believes that every physician has made adequate decisions based on the situation they found. However, criticism is directed at the region and the health center for lack of continuity in health care. In this way, the man could have received better and safer care.
