The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Moscow Region issued a Russian passport to the former major of the Ukrainian army, Vladimir Dorogokupets. From 1990 to 1993, he served in the Arkhangelsk region as a lieutenant, however, due to his father’s illness, who remained in Ukraine, he was transferred to Odessa. In 2014, after the events on Maidan, the officer joined the Odessa "anti-Maidan", after which he spent three and a half years in prison. Upon his release, the man left for relatives in the suburbs in the hope of becoming a citizen of the Russian Federation as a former Russian officer. The migration department refused him this, offering to obtain a passport according to another procedure, which would take at least a year. As a result, after an appeal from RT to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they confirmed that Dorogupokets has the right to become a citizen of the Russian Federation on the basis of his military service near Arkhangelsk.
