17-year-old student Natalia Kalinichenko was hit hard by an explosion in an attack on the Polytechnic College in Kerch in October 2018. After the tragedy, she, along with other wounded, was hospitalized at the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology in Moscow.

From October to June, the girl underwent about 20 operations - during the attack she received severe concussion, multiple fractures, a bone was knocked out by a blast wave on her right leg, and as a result, her foot had to be amputated.

In June, she also successfully completed her first year.

“Last year, she graduated from the hospital, teachers came to her. “I finished the year with fours and fives,” her father Yuri Kalinichenko proudly says.

Over the summer, Natasha learned to walk again in Kerch: “I wrote out on one leg. At first it was not possible to maintain balance, but then it began to turn out, probably because the leg more or less got stronger. ”

Nevertheless, the student has several more operations ahead - for this, the girl and dad again arrived in the capital. The family plans to stay in Moscow until the end of the year.

“Natasha’s doctor is pleased with the treatment: there is a chance that she will walk. But it’s too early to talk about the prosthesis. Now we need to negotiate with another hospital - Natasha, after a concussion, has problems with her ear, she also needs surgery, but they cannot do it in Kerch, ”says Yury Kalinichenko.

Don't give up

Natasha’s dad raised his daughter alone. Today, the income of the Kalinichenko family is the girl’s disability pension, 14 thousand rubles. Before the tragedy, Yuri was engaged in repair work, but, since now he spends all the time with his daughter, he has to refuse large orders and the family began to need material help.

900 thousand rubles allocated as compensation have already been spent, Yuri Kalinichenko added. According to him, they continue to help them only with housing and treatment in Moscow, and the cost of travel and food are borne by the victim's family.

“We spent 50 thousand rubles on air tickets to Moscow. They settled us farther from the hospital than last time, driving far away. No new payments are expected. Well, what remains for us - we have no choice, ”the girl’s father complains.

Despite the injury, Natasha helps her father around the house - she cooks and cleans. A year after the tragedy, the student advises not to give up to everyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

“If you have difficulties, like mine or even worse, it’s worth asking yourself not“ why, ”but“ why. ” Maybe life will change for the better. Maybe it saved you from something more. So my attending physician told me, and I really thought about it, ”the girl said.

All victims in control

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Crimea, Elena Los, told RT that the republican authorities are monitoring the fate of all victims of the attack on the college.

“Nobody forgot about them. We control absolutely all the victims, we contact them weekly. Moreover: we already have examples when people want to quickly forget about the situation and ask them not to disturb, ”said Los.

According to the official, they are being addressed with different needs: “So, the situation is very difficult in the family of Marina Igorochkina - after the tragedy, the injured girl had an accident in her mother, so we help them with home improvement.”

Elena Los said that the Kalinichenko family, like everyone else, received compensation from the state budget - a total of 900 thousand rubles.

In addition to budgetary funds, the Crimeans managed to raise more than 15.5 million rubles to help the victims of the tragedy, the money was proportionally divided between all the victims. Natalia and Yuri Kalinichenko received 199 thousand rubles from them, the official stressed.

“Today, everyone who needs additional consultations receives maximum assistance at the level of the republic,” added Elena Los.

The deputy minister confirmed that the purchase of tickets to Moscow is not compensated from the budget, therefore, all victims pay transportation costs themselves.

“Natasha is far from the only one who needs help. Rehabilitation and treatment are also required for other victims, the official said. - Nevertheless, Natasha and Dad were helped - a transfer to the airport in Anapa and a transfer from Domodedovo Airport to Moscow. They were also provided with a social apartment at no cost. ”
