According to her, the total share of state civil and municipal employees in the employed population is currently about 1.7%.

“According to July 1, there are about 855 thousand state civil servants in the country. Of these, 603 thousand people are federal civil servants, 252 thousand are civil servants of the regions, ”she said.

As the deputy minister noted, 395 thousand municipal employees are currently working in local governments.

Nesterenko added that it is customary to classify officials not only as civil servants, but also all employees of state and municipal bodies.

“There are about 2.4 million people. It turns out that there are 163 “officials” per 10 thousand people in Russia. This is 3.3% of the number of people employed in the economy, ”she explained.

Nesterenko said earlier that in 2020, reform in the field of public administration will begin in Russia, which will lead to a massive reduction in the number of civil servants.

In mid-September, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov also announced that a reduction in the number of officials is expected next year.

In turn, the head of Sberbank German Gref noted that Russia needs officials of a “different quality”, and a reduction in their number is not necessary.
