According to the head of the 5th FSB service, Sergei Beseda, there is evidence of the involvement of US intelligence "in the delivery of ISIS to the northern regions of Afghanistan in order to destabilize the situation on the southern borders of the CIS, and in the long term - in the countries of Central Asia."

According to RIA Novosti, he said this during the 16th meeting of heads of intelligence services of the CIS countries, chaired by the director of the SVR Sergey Naryshkin. The event is attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The conversation emphasized that ensuring CIS security requires Commonwealth intelligence agencies to identify dangerous trends in the early stages.

In February, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the militants of the “Islamic State”, under obscure circumstances, manage to get into Afghanistan, which poses a threat to the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

In March, the Interior Ministry noted that terrorists, after the defeat in Syria and Iraq, are shifting interests to the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

* “Islamic State” (IG) - the organization was recognized as terrorist by decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of December 29, 2014.
