September 23, 2019 Great Britain considers Iran responsible for the attack on Saudi oil sites.

"We are attributing the responsibility with a very high level of probability to Iran" for the September 14 attack, Prime Minister Boris Johnson told reporters during the trip to New York for the UN General Assembly.

Adding that the British could contribute to US military efforts in the Gulf, where they will send more troops. If they asked us, "we would consider how to be useful," Johnson said.

So far, the British government has refrained from pointing out a person responsible for the attack in Riyadh. Now, London, the only European chancellery, aligns itself with the Saudis and the United States in pointing the finger at Tehran.

"We will work with our American friends and our European friends for an answer that seeks to reduce tensions in the Gulf," said Johnson, adding that he will meet Iranian President Hassan Rohani at the UN.

Talks with Donald Trump, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron are also expected for the British prime minister. For Johnson, Britain should be a "bridge between our American friends and Europeans when it comes to the Gulf crisis"
