“To sign the agreement (visa agreement and readmission agreement - RT .), An appropriate decision of the EU Council is also needed. After signing the agreement, they are subject to ratification by the Parliament of Belarus and approval by the European Parliament. The agreements will enter into force on the first day of the second month after the date on which the parties will inform each other about the completion of these procedures, ”the RIA Novosti Foreign Ministry reported.

Currently, Belarus expects a signal from the European Union to complete the relevant internal procedures, after which the “specific modality” of signing the agreement will be determined.

The Foreign Ministry added that "there is still a lot of work, so it’s difficult to predict exactly."

Earlier, the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Anatoly Glaz, said that Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko decided to sign an agreement with the EU on simplified visa issuance and readmission.

The Kremlin appreciated Minsk’s plans to simplify the visa regime with the EU.
