World No. 2 Rafael Nadal has dropped out of injury on Sunday for the final day of the Laver Cup in Geneva, the organizers said.

The Spaniard, who played two games Saturday in singles and doubles, suffers from an "inflammation of the hand" and will not play Sunday's double with Roger Federer.

"I have an inflammation in my hand and I have to watch some rest," Nadal said in a statement from the organizers.

"I had some great moments here at the Laver Cup, and I'm very sad I can not play again today," he added.

Nadal is replaced by the Greek Stefanos Tsisipas to play double with Federer against the American double John Isner / Jack Sock.

Three other singles will be played Sunday, including a meeting between Federer and Isner.

A three-day exhibition event in Geneva, the Laver Cup pits Europe in singles and doubles against a group of players from around the world, including Australia's Nick Kyrgios and Canada's Milos Raonic.

The first edition took place in 2017 in Prague and the second last year in Chicago, won each time by Europe.
