Jassem Hameed Ghanem, chairman of the Fishermen's Association, said that the Ministry of Infrastructure Development is in the process of establishing a modern and integrated market in the port of Marsa Al-Midan within the second phase of the development of the port, adding that the market includes three sections for vegetables, fish, meat and a number of facilities and services.

Ghanem explained to Al Emarat Al Youm that the Meydan market will be the first comprehensive market in Umm Al Quwain and will be located near the fish auction section of the port, where fresh fish will be purchased immediately upon arrival.

Ghanem confirmed the design of the fish section to accommodate 40 deck for sale, in addition to providing space for indication in the auction section, and the allocation of a section for cleaning and cutting fish, accommodating 20 workers, in addition to a break for consumers to the cleaning department enables them to continue cleaning fish directly away from odors.

He pointed out that the vegetable market includes 10 shops, and the meat market 14 stores, which overlooks the port from the western and southern sides, and its external yard leads to the landing place for the fishermen.

Ghanem pointed out that the Fishermen's Association in Umm Al Quwain, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, laid down the basic lines for the design of the market, in terms of entrances and exits, and the work system. He added that the association submitted a request to the ministry to lighting the port with solar energy to ensure that the surveillance cameras are placed there.
