It was at the beginning of August that the pregnant woman came to the maternity ward at Mälar Hospital in Eskilstuna to give birth to her baby. She says in the report about how everything went well at first and that the staff did a good job at birth.

But then the trouble started. She describes how, after giving birth, she was in such a hurry that she could neither sleep nor breastfeed and that she lay and screamed for hours.

It took twelve days

After three days, the woman claimed that there was something that did not feel like it would, after which she was told that she had been affected by the appearance, that is, the inner parts of the woman's abdomen should have bent down towards the mouth.

But that was not the case. After seeking care several times, the woman had to come to a midwife after twelve days. There, there were spotted cans that were used to stop a bleeding that occurred in connection with childbirth - and which were thus forgotten.

The woman now reports both the maternity ward and BB to the Inspection for Health and Care, Ivo.

"A handful of times"

Agneta Erström, who is the head of care at the maternity ward at Mälar Hospital, cannot comment on specific cases, but says that she has been involved in this type of event in "a handful of cases" while she was active.

- Our guidelines say that we should not put cotton trousers that do not have a string in the vagina, just so that this should not happen. If this has happened then you have departed from the routine, she says.
