The first legs of the final qualifying round of the 2020 African Nations Championship have started this Saturday, July 21st. Uganda has almost his ticket in his pocket after his net victory in Burundi (3-0). Tunisia, stronger than Libya (1-0), and Senegal, winner of Guinea (1-0), have made halfway.

In addition to Cameroon, qualified as host country, what will be the selections that will compete CHAN 2020 ? There are 15 tickets left to hand, and the games played this weekend of 21-22 September are already very important. These are the first leg matches of the final qualifying round . After that, there will be only the rounds back to play, between 18 and 20 October.

Five games were played this Saturday, September 21st. Two concerned the North zone, two the West A zone and the Central East zone.

Tunisia takes an option, Algeria and Morocco back to back

Four candidates, two places for CHAN. This is the photograph of the North zone of the playoffs. The first match played Saturday saw Tunisia win against Libya (1-0). The only goal of the match was marked by a regular A: Anice Badri, former junior Olympique Lyonnais, former player Mouscron and current player Esperance Tunis. Of a precise head (54th), the attacker offered the victory to his people in Radès. A success that will confirm the return leg, scheduled October 18 in a place that remains to be determined.

In the other match of the day, there was no winner between Algeria and Morocco. There was even no goal (0-0) despite the pressure put by local Fennecs late in the game. The Tunisian defense and goalkeeper folded but did not give up. If Algeria wants to get their first qualification at CHAN since the 2011 edition and try to make the double after the victory at CAN 2019 , it will have to make a result in mid-October outside.

Senegal wins on the wire, no winner between Mauritania and Mali

In the West A zone, the topo is the same: four candidates, two elected. And midway through this last qualifying round, only Senegal took a small advantage. At home, the Senegalese Lions ended up overcoming Guinea (1-0). After dominating throughout the match without finding the fault, Senegal was released by Assane Mbodj. Midfielder ASC Jaraaf, 23 meters from the Guinean cage, fired a powerful mid-level shot that fooled the doorman of the national Syli (86th).

Goal point, however, in the match between Mauritania and Mali (0-0). Everything will be played in the return match between these two nations.

Uganda is almost there

Uganda is poised to participate in its fifth consecutive CHAN. One of the three tickets in the Central-East zone is almost in the pocket of the Cranes after their result gleaned Saturday. In the field of Burundi, the Ugandans did not make any detail and won the final score of 3-0. Viane Ssekajugo, Muzamir Mutyaba and Mustafa Kizza scored goals that send Uganda almost to Cameroon. Burundi will need a miracle to reverse the situation.
