The controversy over whether the president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, would go to the trial scheduled for next week at the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) for disobedience by coinciding with the general policy debate in the Parliament has been resolved . The court decided to postpone the trial date from September 25 and 26 to November 18 to have more time to process the claims filed by the president against magistrates who must judge him.

After knowing the date the lawyers of Torra first filed a challenge against the president of the TSJC Jesús M. Barrientos and the magistrate Mercedes Armas when doubting their impartiality. To process this objection, which had to be remedied by Torra himself since he had forgotten to sign the petition and was granted 24 hours to do so, the TSJC appointed magistrate Carlos Ramos as rapporteur, who was also challenged by the president alleging that his appointment, approved by the Parliament, was at the request of the socialists.

Given this situation, the lawyer of the Administration of Justice of the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the TSJC agreed that "due to the material impossibility of processing the challenge filed" by Torra against magistrates of the tribunal constituted for holding the trial for disobedience suspends the planned trial for September 25 and 26 and indicates the oral hearing for November 18 in morning and afternoon session.

Torra faces 20 months of disqualification for public office and a fine of 30,000 euros, as requested by the Prosecutor's Office, for a crime of disobedience by ignoring repeated requests from the Central Electoral Board and withdrawing symbology in favor of leaders independentistas prisoners and the secession of the balcony of the Generalitat and other public buildings during the election campaign of the generals.
