Mr. Kazumi Okamura, former Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Agency, will be appointed as the new judge of the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court Justice Yamamoto is scheduled to retire on the 25th of this month.

Along with this, the government decided to appoint Kazumi Okamura, former Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Agency, as a new judge at the cabinet meeting on the 20th.

Mr. Okamura is 61 years old. After working as a prosecutor at the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office and Director General of Human Rights at the Ministry of Justice, he served as the Commissioner of the Consumer Affairs Agency from 2016 until July.
