A total of 72% of French people questioned by Odoxa say they have a bad opinion of the leader of La France unsubdued, which Thursday opened the trial after the stormy search of October 2018 at the headquarters of his party.

Three-quarters of French people say they have a bad opinion of Jean-Luc Mélenchon whose image has deteriorated significantly in two years, according to an Odoxa poll for Le Figaro and Franceinfo. Finally, 65% see Jean-Luc Mélenchon "rather a handicap" for LFI (34% "an asset") and 74% "rather a handicap for the left" ("rather an asset" for 25%). This survey was conducted by internet on 18 and 19 September, according to the quota method, with a representative sample of the French population of 1,005 people aged 18 years and over. The margin of error is 1.4 to 3.1 points.

Another poll, Elabe for BFMTV, published on Wednesday, showed that 76% of respondents thought that the qualifier of "authoritarian" applied to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, 72% thinking it for the term "arrogant", 58% for "dynamic". And 61% "disagreed" with the idea that the trial is "political" (39% "agree").
