Juventus announced Friday a net loss of 39 million euros for the year ended June 30, 2019, more than doubled from the previous one, the weight of the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo weighing on the accounts of the club Turin.

During the 2017-2018 season, Juventus had a loss of 19.2 million euros. The previous three years, the accounts of the Turin club were in the green, with a profit of 42M euros in 2016-2017.

Ronaldo has signed with Juventus in the summer of 2018, for a transfer of more than 100 million euros and against an estimated salary of 31 million euros annually.

Very soon after the operation, the Turin authorities had warned that it would initially weigh on the accounts of the club, the time that "the effect Ronaldo" is reflected in an increase in income, which Juventus hoped massive.

These are already rising sharply, but still insufficient to cover expenses. Juventus announced Friday a turnover of 621.5 million euros, up 23% from 504.7 million the previous year.

The club has also announced a capital increase of up to 300 million euros, by 30 September 2020.

This must make it possible to accompany a development plan for the period 2019-2024. In particular, it provides for "the maintenance of sport competitiveness" and "the increase in operating revenue and the visibility of the Juventus brand on international markets".
