Polemist Eric Zemmour will hold a conference Monday in Perpignan that will be presented by the deputy National Rally (RN) Louis Aliot, candidate in municipal elections in this city, we learned Friday from the elected.

"It is not an official support, it is a gesture of friendship", affirmed the elected official of the Pyrénées-Orientales to AFP.

Louis Aliot will present the essayist who has just been sentenced to a fine of 3,000 euros for provocation to religious hatred after anti-Muslim remarks in 2016, and will transmit the questions of the room.

The writer told AFP that he "did not support anyone for the municipal" and that he "simply honored a promise" made to Louis Aliot "to go to present (his) book + The French destiny +" in Perpignan . The conference was initially scheduled for July but could not be done by that date, he said.

The deputy claims to share with Mr. Zemmour his "Gaullist idea of ​​France, grandeur, independence, identity, French sovereignty". The essayist, in favor of a "union of the rights" (right of LR and extreme right), will also express itself at the "convention of the right" at the end of September organized by the relatives of the former deputy RN Marion Maréchal.

Mr Aliot, whose party defends the idea of ​​a "national unity" beyond the right-left divide, believes that it is "at the local level that is the real union. based".

He himself goes to the town hall of Perpignan without RN label to promote a "local gathering".
