The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education announces this Friday, September 20, the appointment of Antonio "Toni" Conceiçao Da Silva Oliveira as coach-coach of the national team of Cameroon. Portuguese technician succeeds Clarence Seedorf, thanked after CAN 2019.
The Indomitable Lions have a new coach. The post, vacant since the end of CAN 2019 where the Cameroonians, African champions in title, had been out of the knockout stage by Nigeria, has found taker. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education in Cameroon, announced at the end of the day this Friday, September 20 via a statement.

The Dutchman Clarence Seedorf, thanked after the CAN (as his assistant Patrick Kluivert), is replaced by another European coach. This is Antonio Conceição da Silva Oliveira, better known simply as Toni Conceição. The sports minister said the new coach will be supported, among others, by two former internationals. François Omam-Biyik will be his main assistant and Jacques Célestin Songo'o will be in charge of goalkeepers. The doctor's post of the team is entrusted to Professor William Ngatchou Djomo.
Toni Conceiçao, 57, will be training for the first time. Former defender of Braga and FC Porto especially in the 1980s, ex-Portuguese international (a selection), he has mainly coached in his country and Romania. He has led the CFR Cluj formation, among other things, on three occasions, winning with him two Romanian Cups. Conceição has also been briefly stationed in Al-Faisaly (Saudi Arabia) and Nea Salamis (Cyprus).
This is the second time that a Portuguese is leading the Indomitable Lions. Before Toni Conceiçao, Artur Jorge held the position of coach between 2004 and 2006.
