It was late January 23 that two groups met in a parking lot in a residential area of the Ersboda district of Umeå. At least eight shots were fired and, according to the prosecutor, everything indicates that all shots came from the same weapon.

- The suspect has armed himself with a gun. My claim is that he has been on site to provide protection for one of the groups, says Chamber Prosecutor Andreas Nyberg who led the preliminary investigation into the press release.

Four people were hit by the shots, one of them, a 19-year-old man so badly injured that he died from the injuries.

The technical evidence the prosecutor presents consists of, among other things, gloves that can be linked to the shooting through the location they were found on, and through ignition particles and to the suspect through DNA.

The trial is scheduled to begin October 1. The suspected 30-year-old denies the crime.
