NATO corrected article with non-existent “Azimov Sea”

The Alliance corrected a mistake in its publication on maritime security, in which the Sea of Azov was called the "Sea of Azimov."

The relevant material is published on the NATO website. In the article, the alliance refers to a marine expert in the organization of Paul Beckley, a graduate of the US Naval Academy.

The publication said that "the events in the Persian Gulf and the Azimov Sea demonstrated the need for naval power."

Later, the article was amended and the “Azimov Sea” was replaced by the Sea of Azov.

At the same time, the authors do not specify which particular “events” demonstrated the need for “naval power” for NATO.

In 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump, during a speech at the UN to leaders of African states, in his speech mentioned the non-existent country of Nambia.
