The Omerovichs, the Roma family who assigned the apartment in the Roman neighborhood of Casal Bruciato at the center of violent protests, was received by Pope Francis in San Giovanni in Laterano. Besieged by a crowd of reporters, his mother, Senada Sejdovic, holding a small daughter, and her father, Imer Omerovic, were escorted by the police to the car that took them to the Basilica. The meeting with the Pope took place in private form in the sacristy of the Basilica. A few hours before, the visit of Roma and Sinti invited to the Vatican by Bergoglio.

"The Holy Father tonight greeted, in the sacristy of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, the Roma family from the Roman neighborhood of Casal Bruciato, a victim - in recent days - of threats and racist insults. With this gesture, the Pope wished to express closeness and solidarity with this family and the clearest condemnation of all forms of hatred and violence ". This was reported by the interim director of the Vatican press office, Alessandro Gisotti.

"Resist"
This is the invitation made by the Pope to the Omerovichs. According to what was reported by those present, Francesco said he knew their story, having read it in the newspapers. He encouraged them to "resist" and ask the Church for any need. The family told their story, explaining that they are Muslim. Francesco then joked with a girl from the family.

Italian flags appear on the windows
A series of Italian flags, some very similar to each other, sprang up in the afternoon at the windows overlooking the condominium courtyard of the complex where the apartment assigned to the Omericis is located. The flags, about 30, also fly from some windows to the upper floors of their home.

The Omerovichs: "We're not leaving for now, we'll see in September"
"For now we are not going anywhere, we are waiting for the schools to open, in September, at that point we will evaluate what to do" the Omerovichs told the Adnkronos. "We do not want to leave this house, but it is essential that the neighborhood accepts us - they explain - it would be ugly, above all dangerous, if our children went to school in a neighborhood that does not want us. It has already happened that they were targeted, with insults and spits, and we do not want to repeat it. In September, therefore, we will evaluate whether there will be the conditions to register them here or if instead it will be the case to leave them in the school where they are already attending ".

Senada: "We would like to have a party with all the neighbors"

First reported. Even those who shouted "rape you" to the Roma woman: he is a Casapound sympathizer
First reported by the Digos for the protests that took place in recent days in Casal Bruciato against the assignment of the public housing to the Omerovic. According to what has been learned, among these there would also be those who, on Tuesday afternoon, shouted the phrase "rape you" to the Roma woman who was entering the condominium on Via Satta with the child.

It would be a Casapound sympathizer. The man, DC, has now been denounced by the Digos. According to what has been learned, the boy has participated in various initiatives and protests organized by the right-wing movement. He was also photographed on various occasions in the company of the Roman referents of the CPI or while he was engaged in initiatives promoted by Casapound. On his social profiles also post-negationists like the one with the photo of Hitler and the writing: "But which Holocaust? I know all dead epilepsy".

The person directly concerned yesterday denied that he had spoken those words. "What I was told I told that Roma lady, that is 'you rape me', I never said - she said in a video - I told her so many other bad words and I apologize, but it was an excited moment in which one did not reason very well ". Then he pointed out: "I am not part of Casapound, I am not a Casapound member, but I was there as a simple citizen. I took part in their initiatives, but I am not a militant".

But a video, which runs on the net, would deny his version, because he takes it up again while he says 'you rape' followed by sexist insults and some photos, always online, portray him participating in some Casapound initiatives. From those words Casapound has distanced: "If there were personal insults against the woman we condemn them, but unfortunately they are caused by the climate of tension and exasperation of the citizens - commented the Roman referent, Davide Di Stefano - It is right to oppose in a civil, determined, but peaceful manner, while it is wrong to pass to the personal insult ".

The boy is not the only one reported. With him other citizens, some still in the process of being identified, who now face accusations of threats, incitement to racial hatred and private violence. Screened images with the most chilling stages of disputes, in some houses with death threats and sexist insults. Already tomorrow a detailed report is expected in the Public Prosecutor's Office

Roma and Sinti received at the Vatican by Bergoglio: "I suffer for you, this is not civilization"
" I am close to you. And when I read in the newspapers it is something bad, I tell you the truth: I suffer . Today I read something bad and I suffer because this is not civilization, it is not civilization. Love is civilization" said Pope Francis in the prayer meeting with the Roma and Sinti people, in the Vatican, this morning. In his speech, the pontiff referred to the story of Casal Bruciato.
