• Donald Trump dismisses National Security Advisor John Bolton

18 September 2019 US President Donald Trump appointed Robert C. O'Brien as new national security adviser.

O'Brien, who currently holds the role of President's special envoy for the hostage affairs at the State Department, succeeds John Bolton, the 'hawk' abruptly fired by Trump just over a week ago. "I have worked long and hard with Robert. He will do a great job," writes Trump on Twitter.

I am pleased to announce that I will name Robert C. I have worked long & hard with Robert. He will do a great job!
