NSC Secretariat To strengthen economic policy planning function September 19th, 4:11

As economic policies such as US-China trade friction are closely related to diplomacy and security, the government formulates economic policies at the secretariat of the NSC = National Security Council, which serves as the control tower for diplomacy and security policies. In order to strengthen functions, we are proceeding with a study to expand the system.

The United States and China have repeated measures to add tariffs to each other, and even for the development of the next-generation communication standard “5G”, the US will deal with China's major communication equipment “Huawei” without permission for reasons such as security. We are intensifying the fight for leadership.

The government has increased economic policy closely related to diplomacy and security. Therefore, NSC, which serves as the headquarters for diplomacy and security policy, has set economic policy for the National Security Bureau, which is the secretariat of the National Security Council. In order to strengthen the planning function, we are proceeding with a study to expand the system.

Specifically, we are considering increasing the number of staff familiar with economic policies from the relevant ministries and agencies, establishing new departments, assuming that policy planning, information analysis, and coordination among ministries and agencies will be carried out.

The government wants to develop more strategic diplomacy and security policies through strengthening these systems.
