The company announced in a press release on Wednesday that it plans to build a hydrogen plant, a renewable fuel plant and a cistern plant. The biorefinery will be in use in 2022 and will be adjacent to St1's existing premises at Hisingen. According to GP, the plant will emit 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

The company believes they will focus on a "less bad alternative" from an environmental point of view.

- The company's vision and strategy is to provide energy solutions with as little climate impact as possible and it is an endeavor for society at large to reduce climate impact. These renewable products will be used in the transport sector, says Bo-Erik Svensson, CEO, to GP.

The idea is that the bio refinery will produce 200,000 tonnes of renewable fuels per year.
