In the old town hall in Skara from 1905, Skara school scene has been housed for over 50 years. But now the old courtroom and other rooms will be restored to original condition when the house becomes apartments. Here, among others, Mustafa Aldabba got a job.

- I looked at the original stucco and did my own molding. Since then, I have recently manufactured the stucco that was left here in the courtroom, ”Mustafa Aldabbas proudly tells SVT News West.

- We needed to be able to recreate parts of the stucco in the roof, and above all, it turned out that Mustafa had just that expertise, says Cecilia Meijer.

Establishes itself in Sweden

Mustafa Aldabbas fled from Syria has got permanent work in Skara and is now moving here. His two workmates are now also establishing themselves in Sweden thanks to the renovation of the courthouse. Mahmoud Hamed, also from Syria, moved to Skara from Falköping when he started working with the town hall. He has 24 years of experience working on renovations from Syria. Through his job in Skara, he has now got a permanent job in Gothenburg and has obtained an apartment there.

Merhawi Ghirmay hails from Eritrea and has now been able to buy his own villa through the renovation of the townhouse.

- I have colleagues here and we have nice conversations on the breaks. We talked about the past and the future and wish each other everything good, says Mustafa Aldabbas.

Unique competence

Bo Fredriksson, Chairman of the Board of Emprender, believes that the knowledge of the floating kings was crucial to the renovation.

- We couldn't have done it without these guys, says Bo Fredriksson.
