During the day, the government presented its budget bill with an increase of the general government grants of 3.5 billion. Of the billions, more than 92 million end up in Västerbotten, according to a compilation of Dagens Nyheter.

The money is distributed in relation to size, which means that smaller municipalities have received less money. In Lycksele, the grant seems to land in a supplement of SEK 4,173,000, money that is warmly received but with some reservations.

- It is always good to have a supplement in the municipal cash register, but the large brush strokes are missing. We had wanted to see major investments in, for example, health care, because it is these pieces that create the conditions for man to live in society, says Roland Sjögren (KD), municipal council in Lycksele.

Is the grant sufficient or would you like to see more money?

- We have an economy in balance so I'm not going to sit here and say we need more money. But what we think we need to invest in is better infrastructure for business and living conditions, not least in rural municipalities, says Sjögren.

"Must be an attractive employer"

According to the local council, it is too early to say how the money will be used, but there are a couple of areas where they can benefit.

- The biggest challenge is the provision of skills. We must be an attractive employer and review the pay situation of those who work in the municipal organization so that we become competitive from that aspect. In addition, we have elderly people in municipalities that are grant-dependent that we cannot fully cater for, so we have to look at a long-term solution.
