In Akebäck, the company Byggbygghyttan Kalk & Bygg renovates the medieval church externally and internally. It is one of many such renovations that have been carried out over the years.

But when Visby and some other pins now receive less money, this and other companies will be affected.

- As a contractor and contractor, this will mean less work. This is one of our specialties that we have been doing for many years with great competence that over time may sound off, says Kaj Boström, the company's CEO and continues:

- They require their knowledge to be able to handle them (churches. Ed. Note) properly. It is not a competence that you only build up in one hand turn, he says.

"Harder and harder priorities"

SEK 460 million comes from the state each year to the country's churches. How they are distributed is one thing that now arouses discussion.

But what this is basically also about is that there is too little money to share.

- All the diocese talk about getting tougher and tougher priorities. The money has not been counted since 1996 when these 460 million were calculated. As it is now, this money covers a quarter of the total cost of chapels and churches within the Swedish Church. So it is a lot of members' money that goes to this, says Rebecka Svensson, diocesan antiquarian at Visby Diocese.
