In the toddler section of the pre-school Växthuset in Vaggeryd, the children play mostly with things from nature or waste material from the ReMida recycling center. As SVT has said before, some 80 companies in the municipality donate things that are used for educational and educational purposes.

- I do not miss toys and I have never experienced the children do either, says Viveca Åberg.

Isn't it more difficult for your educators when there are no toys for the children?

- On the contrary, actually. When you work with unfinished material you can have a lot of the material and there is no right or wrong, she says.

- It's great to work like this. In addition, it is a gender neutral material. We think that creativity is increasing in the children, says preschool teacher Karin Wilhelmsson.

Several study visits each semester

The preschool staff in the municipality of Vaggeryd gets great help from the ReMida recycling center in Skillingaryd. A couple of times each semester, they meet and exchange experiences and knowledge about the materials and things to use in the business.

A similar way of working with residual and waste material in preschool and school is also found in, among others, Gothenburg, Töreboda, Södertälje, Oskarshamn and Västervik. According to Kerstin Nordenstam, pedagogist at ReMida in Skillingaryd, several other municipalities snail on how Vaggeryd works.

- We have several study visits each semester so it is a huge interest.

Can everyone work like this?

- Here we are lucky to have so many manufacturing companies and that they are helpful. My advice is to work with what's nearby and what's local, says Kerstin Nordenstam.
