- Together with Skanska and the airport as landowner, we see that there are great opportunities to develop the land around the airport, and we have started this work. It should be an area that should be worth visiting even though you should not fly, says Nyköping municipal council Urban Granström.

Visions about construction start within a couple of years

- The big steps come when the Ostlänk is finished when you can go by train here in 40 minutes from central Stockholm. But even before that, we can see that we can take steps around business start-ups, because Skavsta is one of the few airports in Sweden that is growing.

What year can a physical building be completed?

- We agreed that somewhere around 2023, you should see that things start to happen physically, so I hope we can get there together.
