“If Turkey in two weeks together with the USA does not achieve concrete results on the security zone in Syria, then Ankara will start acting independently,” Erdogan quotes Anadolu.

He noted that “turning the areas east of the Euphrates into a security zone”, Syrian refugees from both Turkey and Europe can be accommodated there.

“We are talking about 2-3 million people, depending on the size of the specified zone,” Erdogan said.

Earlier, Erdogan, following a trilateral meeting with Russian and Iranian presidents Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani, said the parties had overcome the differences on the Syrian constitutional committee.
