The moments of unity on the Twitter planet are of exceptional rarity. But the evocation of a remake of "Princess Bride", a cult American film of the 80s, aroused an outcry, his fans replicating "inconceivable" in unison.
In an article by Variety published Tuesday, Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, set fire to the powders.
"Many famous people whose names I will not give" want to redo "Princess Bride," said one whose group has, according to the magazine, reached an agreement with Norman Lear, producer of the original film.
This statement, published on Twitter by Variety, had the effect of a blow to the fans of this feature film directed by Rob Reiner in 1987, and sparked a torrent of reactions on Twitter.
"Leave Princess Bride alone", "Princess Bride is absolutely perfect from the beginning to the end", "We do not need a remake of #ThePrincessBride", are some of the many messages of remonstrances from Internet users.
Other fans cheerfully resumed, in the form of GIF, a passage of the film where the character Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), said "inconceivable", to signify their disapproval.
The most striking opposition came from Cary Elwes, aka Westley, the beloved of Bouton d'or (Robin Wright) in this Hollywood fairy tale.
"There are so few perfect movies in this world, it would be a shame to ruin this one," tweeted Cary Elwes, echoing a famous replica of the film.
Other pundits of the 7th art gave voice. "There is only ONE Princess Bride," thundered actress Jamie Lee Curtis ("Freaky Friday"), married to one of the film's actors, Christopher Guest.
The idea of a remake has also made stick out Ted Cruz, Republican senator of Texas. "NOOOOOOOON !!!!!!", he exclaimed on Twitter, warning that one should not "tackle the perfection".
