2018 - South and North Korea want to compete together for the 2032 Summer Olympics, says South Korean President Moon Jae In in Pyongyang. Most recently, the winter games were held in South Korea's Pyeongchang in February. In 1988 Seoul hosted the Summer Games.

2014 - The majority of Scots decide against independence from Great Britain in a historic referendum.

1999 - Germany, Denmark and the new NATO member Poland officially put the Joint Multinational Corps Northeast into service.
