“We, the board of the National Bank of Ukraine, publicly declare the inadmissibility of targeted, systemic attacks on the ex-head of the bank Valery Gontareva and in her person - on all reformers who worked and are working for the good of Ukraine. This is not a series of incidents, this is terror, ”the NBU said in a statement.
As noted, the purpose of this is to intimidate reformers, which poses a direct threat to democracy and reform in the country.
The National Bank called for an impartial expedited investigation of a series of attacks.
Gontareva said earlier that unidentified persons burned her house near Kiev, throwing a Molotov cocktail.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, called this incident criminal pressure. The police opened a criminal case.
In late August, Gontareva reported that she was hit by a car in London.
