The CGT of the factory Ford Blanquefort (Gironde), which asked the civil justice to recognize that the closure of the site was not motivated by economic imperatives, suffered a new setback after the rejection of his application Tuesday on appeal , according to concordant sources.

The Bordeaux Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the Civil Division of the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Bordeaux (TGI) which, at first instance on 2 July, had declared itself incompetent to rule on the validity of the economic reason advanced by Ford for close the plant.

"We are satisfied with the decision of the court today (Tuesday) which is exactly in line with what we had pleaded since the beginning," told AFP a spokesman for the automaker.

By appealing, the CGT, the majority union of the factory, intended "to carry through to the end" the court battle to cancel the plan for safeguarding employment (PSE) affecting 872 employees, which was validated by the administration after Ford's refusal of the offer of the only buyer in the running, Punch Powerglide.

It considered that it was incumbent on the TGI "to assess the economic cause of a social plan" while Ford on the contrary considered that the law gave "jurisdiction to the administrative authorities to rule on all matters concerning litigation relating to plans of action. layoffs ".

The gearbox factory, established since 1972 in the suburbs of Bordeaux, definitively stopped all production on July 24th. The letters of dismissal must leave on October 1st.
