“I consider it necessary to stop discussing the topic of renaming Crimea to Taurida, the double use of historical names,” he wrote on Facebook.

As noted by Aksyonov, in 2014 the Republic of Crimea returned to its homeland - to Russia.

“We must keep this name. Discussions on these topics should be left for discussion in scientific and historical circles, ”he added.

He emphasized that it is necessary “to know and honor your history, including remembering what our peninsula was called at different times and eras”.

“Today our goal is to make the republic a prosperous, self-sufficient region of Russia, and the life of Crimeans comfortable and safe. Let's get down to business, ”he concluded.

Earlier, the head of the national and cultural autonomy of the Greek Greeks of the Crimea, “Tavrida” Ivan Shonus, initiated the introduction of an additional name for the Crimea - “Tauris”.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Crimea Georgy Muradov supported the idea.
