British rock star Rod Stewart revealed that he had recovered from prostate cancer after secretly following treatment for two years.
The former Faces singer, 74, made this weekend his "coming out" on his cancer during a fundraising campaign against this disease in Surrey (southern England), said Monday. Prostate Project in a statement.
He is considered completely cured since last July.
In publicizing his fight against the disease, Sir Rod urged the male audience to conduct regular medical examinations to promote early diagnosis.
"Nobody knew it but I thought it was time for me to tell everyone, if I'm cured now it's just because I took care of it early. (screening) tests, "he testified.
"Guys, you really have to go to the doctor," he pleaded again.
Every year, nearly 50,000 Britons are diagnosed with prostate cancer.
