Educations that have been started and others that have been closed down have created an overcapacity of staff, says Ann Cregård, Academic Director of ETN, Academy of Economics, Technology and Natural Sciences. This has now resulted in eight people being terminated, something that Hallandsposten was the first to report.

There are seven deputies and one research engineer. One of the persons has been relocated and one person has been extended the notice period until retirement. Within the academy, they have three focus areas: research, education and collaboration with society. Where Ann Cregård thinks that research is a major focus area, which they want to focus on.

- It is important that we have a research-linked education, the students should have the latest, she says.

Has been negotiating for a long time

Negotiations with the union have been going on for a long time, before the message reached the staff concerned before the summer.

Ann Cregård, Academic Director of ETN.

- Sometimes we have taken one step forward and two steps behind. We have also been assisted by other educational institutions, it has taken a very long time, says Ann Cregård.

The people who have now been laid off have all worked at Halmstad University for many years and are now receiving support.

- Obviously, it is very heavy, both for the directly affected and for their workmates, says Ann Cregård.
