The National Elections Commission (NEC) announced yesterday that the withdrawal of candidates for the elections of the Federal National Council 2019, which falls on Sunday (September 15, 2019), will be closed, according to the election schedule announced by the commission in early July.

The Committee pointed out that 20 candidates have withdrawn, as 10 candidates have withdrawn from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi: Awad Rashid Saeed Al Muhairi, Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Qashim Al Rumaithi, Nasser Salem Saif to Khraibani Al Nuaimi, Hamad Saeed Al Wity Al Mahrami, Hadif Salah Salem Omair Al Shamsi and Salem Hamad Salem Suhail. Al-Ameri, Abdullah Joaan Salem Al-Dhaheri, Mohammed Ayedh Al-Menhali, Hamda Ahmed Omar Al-Mahrami, and Karima Ali Kalfoot Al-Khawar.

In the emirate of Dubai, four candidates were withdrawn: Habiba Mohammed Ali bin Thalit, Aisha Balkhair Abdullah Khalifa Balkhair, Abdulrahman Mohammed Salem Al Saleh Al Tunaiji and Ghaith Abdul Khalek Abdullah.

For the Emirate of Sharjah, five candidates were withdrawn: Butti Khalfan Mubarak Bin Sorour Al Ketbi, Abdullah Salem Abdullah Al Abdul, Mohammed Abdullah Saeed Bin Howaidan Al Ketbi, Rashid Mohammed Sultan Saeed Al Qaidi and Hamid Obaid Saif Boufier Al Shamsi.

As for the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, the withdrawal of one candidate, Abdullah Ghanem Al Ghafli, was recorded.

No withdrawal requests were registered in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

The National Electoral Commission announced the final list of candidates on September 3, 2019, which included 495 candidates and candidates for membership of the Federal National Council in all emirates of the state, bringing the current number of candidates - after registrations withdrawals - to 475 candidates.

“We call on all candidates to make the best use of the remainder of the campaign to develop electoral programs that are closer to the citizen and better able to meet their needs,” said Tarek Hilal Lootah, undersecretary of the Federal National Council for National Council Affairs and member of the National Electoral Commission.
