15 September 20197.00 Nearly 8 million Tunisians today vote to elect the president of the republic by direct universal suffrage. This is the second time in the history of the young Tunisian democracy, the only successful experiment among the Arab spring countries and an important electoral test which, together with the legislative elections of 6 October, will redesign the political structures of the North African country. There are 24, including two women, the running candidates, but few those who have a serious chance of passing to the second round.
