The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAA) has issued an administrative closure order against two food establishments in Abu Dhabi City, represented by Opal Restaurant, which holds commercial license number CN-1191547, and the food establishment "Al Nabaa Catering Services". The spokesman of the Authority, Engineer Thamer Rashid Al Qasimi, said that the food control report stated that the administrative closure decisions were the result of the failure of the two establishments to comply with the standards and requirements of health and food safety and not to maintain the health level of the two establishments, which may affect the level of food safety and consumer health. The closure was preceded by a number of violations against these facilities during the current year 2019.

Al Qasimi stressed that the order of administrative closure will continue as long as its reasons exist, where the activity can be allowed to resume again after rectifying the conditions of the two establishments and meet all the necessary requirements, and remove them for the reasons of irregularities. Regarding the reasons that led to the closure of the "Al-Nabaa Catering Services" facility, Al-Qassimi explained that it included the lack of a permit from the Authority to practice the activity, and the exercise of food activity in a warehouse within a workers' housing and in an unsuitable health environment, and the deprivation of equipment used and unfit for use in addition to the absence of hygiene in general. And the lack of training of workers in the facility, despite the issuance of three violations against them in January, February and September.
