15 September 2019Aspi, Autostrade per l'Italia, replies to the news on maintenance costs by publishing online the report of the interventions supported from June 2018 to June 2019.

"To guarantee citizens the widest information on the safety conditions of the viaducts of their own network" Aspi also published on the homepage of the site, "detailed sheets on the safety conditions of the Pecetti viaduct and of the Paolillo bridge and the relative communications sent to MIT ".

The Company, in a note, recalls that it has always spent more than the commitments included in the financial plan: the balance of maintenance expenditure in the 2000-2018 period is in fact 5.430 billion euros, equal to approximately 196 million euros more than the expenditure commitments foreseen in the Convention.

The expense for maintenance per kilometer of Autostrade per l'Italia's infrastructure, the note explains, is around 108 thousand euros per year (2013-2017 period), equal to 5 times more than the expenditure made by Anas on its network (19 thousand euros per year between 2013 and 2016) and 3 times higher than comparable French and Spanish dealerships. Autostrade per l'Italia, according to the company's note, "is the only large-scale concessionaire company in the world to have introduced the general draining asphalt (much more expensive in terms of construction and maintenance)".

Aspi underlines that it has "also invested huge resources for safety with the development of the tutor system, the first in the world. The set of projects and safety initiatives adopted by the company has reduced the mortality rate on its network more than it has occurred for every other concessionaire ".
