Large police operation at Rannebergen in Gothenburg

At 17, a caller alerted a gang of about eight masked persons, something like GT, was the first to report.

According to the caller, guns must have been visible. Police moved out with five units and searched for people in the area.

- We went to the place with quite a lot of resources. Helicopter, dog, yes everything and when we start to search, there are a number of people running away from us and then we become more interested, says Andreas Odén, police officer in the West Region.

The police arrested four people, but they continued their search in the area.

- My opinion is that these are younger people, and someone who fled threw a bag from them as well. In the bag we found drugs.

Shortly after 6 pm, the police announced that they had discontinued the operation in Rannebergen. Two people in their 20s are arrested for drug offenses and a 15-year-old is suspected of breaking the knife law because he handled an ax.

- We also brought in another adult, but we couldn't prove any crime and he was released. We also did not find any more weapons than the ax and a knife, says Andreas Odén, a police officer in the West Region.

The arrested men at the age of 20 are both known by the police before but according to Andreas Odén it is difficult to say how and if it is possible to proceed with the investigation as it is unclear if there are any witnesses.

Earlier in the afternoon, police were also alerted to Gärdsås square in Kortedala and initially it was thought that there may have been a connection with the operation in Rannebergen.

- When we got to the scene we found that it seemed like someone had fired with an air weapon, but it didn't really sound that way when we first got the alarm. Because we thought there was a connection.
