The giant project in Uppsala's south-eastern outskirts has an investment cost of SEK 850 million. The landfill will be 11,000 square meters and will contain a workshop and administration building, a service hall, a storage building and a gas building.

Thomas Thunblom, Director of Administration at Uppsala Region.

A big project. Which has also been plagued by major problems.

According to the developer Real Estate and Service at Region Uppsala, the general consultant WSP has not delivered drawings according to expectations and agreements. The documentation for the subcontractor has been delayed and some of those sent have been so substandard that they were directly dangerous to use, according to Region Uppsala.

- It's like having an orientation competition and telling the participants that at the forest grove you get the map, but surely there are no maps, says Thomas Thunblom.

Delay that costs

The building would be finished this summer, but it is not. Much of the installation work remains and occupancy is not expected until the summer of 2020. And it is already costing Region Uppsala now that the builder has sent invoices for a stationary building. Machines, personnel, construction stores and more cost whatever.

The construction is budgeted to cost SEK 850 million, but the final note will not land on it. It is about a multi-million dollar animal.

Prediction of over 100 million

How much the delays cost Region Uppsala is unclear, and it will be counted on it during the month of October. But according to what SVT experiences, this amounts to a good bit over SEK 100 million.

SVT News Uppsala has sought representatives from WSP, which last year had sales of several billion SEK, both locally in Uppsala and nationally. We have wanted to hear their views on delayed deliveries and upcoming multi-million claims.

In a text message from the company it says that "we unfortunately can not comment on details of this project".

- I don't think the taxpayers in Uppsala County see this as details, says Thomas Thunblom.

This can end with a legal process?

- I don't rule out anything.
