Umm Al Quwain Municipality Department has launched a campaign to contain stray dogs in various areas of the Emirate as part of its keenness to provide the highest standards of public health, pest control, and prevention of risks that can be caused by stray animals, in cooperation with Hamriyah Municipality.
The Municipality of Umm Al Quwain indicated that it is working with the help of Hamriyah Municipality to implement an environmental and health program aimed at legalizing the numbers of loose and stray animals and trying to control and contain them. For infected dogs, provide complete care for these animals in specialized clinics.
The Municipality has conducted a series of coordination, consultation and cooperation with the stray dogs shelter in Umm Al Quwain in order to complete the process in accordance with ethical and health standards and standards. And habitat universally and humanely.
The campaign has concentrated its efforts to control stray dogs in the streets and residential neighborhoods in different areas of the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, the outcome of the campaign reached 64 stray dogs so far and the campaign continues until the elimination of stray dogs, in order to avoid the possibility of health hazards to community members and the environment, Stray animals are considered as vectors and carriers of epidemics because of their connection and proximity to people and direct contact with them, especially in cases of increasing numbers and spread in human places of living or work. The municipality delivered the dogs to New Zealand citizen Amira William, owner of the stray dogs shelter Ge navel in Umm Al Quwain.
The focus of this campaign is to develop a scientific plan to control these animals taking into account the achievement of the principle of environmental and natural balance, and the objectives of the campaign emphasizes the importance of protecting society from the dangers of stray dogs.
The municipality stressed that it strives to provide a healthy environment and healthy environments that ensure a decent, stable and epidemic-free life and ensures that its work and projects are always characterized by a spirit of humanity and respect for high values and ethics even in dealing with animals.
